Sleepy Hollow Is Turning 150, But That’s Not the Only Anniversary in 2024
This year, Sleepy Hollow celebrates its 150th anniversary, and the Mermaid Festival is part of the official lineup to commemorate it! But did you know that the beach at Kingsland Point Park is also reaching a landmark?
According to county archives, the beach first opened in 1924, 100 years ago. It was one of Westchester’s few public river beaches for 50 years, until it closed in 1974.
We can’t wait to open the beach gates at the Mermaid Festival in honor of its long history of river access to our community. The beach will be accessible starting at 2pm.
